'ANSWER FOR SALE' IN MODULE UNDER INVESTIGATION

If Senator Nancy Binay is to be asked, she wants to leave it to the Department of Education to first investigate the report of the alleged 'answer for sale' scheme in self-learning modules .

At the same time, Binay said she was confident that the teachers had nothing to do with the said system because of their appreciation of honesty and integrity.

I understand DepEd will be conducting its own inquiry on the matter. We are confident that it can handle the issue about 'answers-for-sale' without dragging the entire department, Binay told The POST when asked for her  reaction to issue.

Sa ngayon, 'di rin tayo sigurado kung systematic ito, or highly organized in the school level or district level, which we really doubt. Our teachers value honesty and integrity and they will never allow such kind of cheating to happen, the senator added.

Binay also said that if it appears in the DepEd report that such a scheme is widespread, then the Senate should enter into the investigation.

Siguro, it may only merit a Senate probe if the reports DepEd gathered confirm that it has reached wholesale scale and to an institutional level. Pero let's wait for their investigation, and perhaps we can ask them of the outcome of their inquiry, and their recommended action, Binay explained.

On the side of Senate Committee on Basic Education, Arts and Culture Chairman Sherwin Gatchalian, he urged DepEd to ensure that all issues related to student learning are investigated.

Mayroong lumalabas na balita tulad ng tinatawag na 'sagot for sale' na marami rin tayong mga kababayan, mga enterprising kababayan na ino-offer ang kanilang services. (There is news coming out like the so-called 'answer for sale' that we also have many compatriots, enterprising compatriots who are offering their services.)

(Their modules will be answered and you will pay them and the modules will be answered by others. So these are the things that need to be investigated and see if it is happening in our schools) Gatchalian added.

DepEd had earlier said that it would not allow such scheme and if it is proven that there are teachers involved in it, they will be punished accordingly.

In a separate statement, DepEd appealed to parents, students not to patronize the ‘answer for sale’ for modules.

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Saturday appealed to parents and students not to promote the so-called “answer for sale” scheme in which some people answer study modules for a fee.

Inaanyayahan namin ang mga magulang at mag-aaral na pigilan ang paggawa nito. Kung walang demand dito, mawawalan ng supply (We invited    parents and students to stop doing this. If there is no demand for it, there will be no supply)DepEd Undersecretary Nepomuceno Malaluan said in his interview with Dobol B TV.

On Friday the Department of Education (DepEd) said it was investigating allegations that some parents hired people to answer their children's modules.

Iyon naman po ay pinapatignan, papatingin natin sa ating mga kasama at magpapa-validate tayo ng mga nasulat,(That is what we are looking at, we will look at our comrades and we will validate what is written)said DepEd Undersecretary Disdado San Antonio in Laging Handa Briefing.
